Introduction

A Little Bit About Me

Hello! My name is Martin and I’m a 3rd year Computing Science Student at the University of Alberta. My interest in development started back in 2020 when I decided to try and build my first android app in Java — I was hooked ever since.

Fast forward to today, I’ve had the privilege of working at a World Top 100 University, an Oil & Gas company, a non-profit, and a large financial institution. My main focus these days is building digital products and learning new tools/languages in the process.

In my free time, you can find me mountain biking, reading quarterly reports, and binge-watching The Office on Netflix.

A python program that lets the user plot bus routes from one point to another on a map. It also plots the locations of the 5 bus stops closest to where the user's mouse is clicked

Quake App

An Android Application that uses USGS API to fetch the latest earthquakes that happened around the world. It then displays the city, country and magnitude of the earthquake.

Your Daily Dose of News

Uses The Guardian open platform API to fetch latest news articles relevant to the user and populates them on a scrollable list. Clicking on a story uses an intent to open the story on the user's browser.

My Past Internships

Exploring different industries and acquiring diverse hands-on experience through past internships

Introduced exciting features to an internal Web Platform used by over 2000 employees.
UI work included using tools such as React, ANTD, JavaScript and CSS
API work included creating endpoints, integration with UI, Swagger and using REST API

Designed and implemented a full ETL solution that extracted data from sensors, transformed that data within an IoT platform and loaded it into Microsoft Azure.

Team Lead on ABTEC-3000, an initiative to provide visibility to the many SME tech companies in Alberta
Developed and executed detailed product roadmaps using Agile Methodology.

Received a scholarship that only accepted 4 students from the UofA to work on a fully paid research internship in Australia.
Executed a sports analytics project with an NBL team. The project
garnered significant recognition, including a feature on local TV news.
